Though we haven’t met our goal of $2,500 yet – $1,585 has been raised so far – we thought it would be a good time to discuss how the fund drive has gone and where we’re headed from here.

For those who receive our email newsletter, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve begun sending out the newsletter on a weekly basis. If you’d like to receive it on a bi-monthly basis again, just email us and we’ll do that.
Last month we decided to change our publishing schedule to three articles a week, which is an increase from our normal two-articles-a-week publishing schedule. We intend to maintain this new amount of content, and hopefully increase it. In addition, a weekly-updated set of news briefs on Latin American issues is available now on the front page of the site. In the near future we’ll be revamping our list of recommended links and develop a huge database of resources on Latin American politics and activism.
These new initiatives were made possible partly because of your financial support, and also because of networking and enthusiasm among activists and writers involved with UpsideDownWorld.org. Because of such networking, the traffic to our site has increased dramatically in recent months; we now receive over 500 visitors to the site each day and the numbers are growing. If you’d like to contribute to this growth, please recommend our site to your friends, link to us and consider translating and writing for Upside Down World. A grassroots publication like this really depends on your support – whether through spreading the word, donating or writing.
Words of encouragement are also much-appreciated. The supportive comments we received during our fund drive really boosted our spirits. Though financial support is important, it’s hearing from readers about how much they value the website and collaborating with activists and writers around the world that really fuel this operation.
