A new report published by Friends of the Earth exposes the once and future damage and dangers that free trade policies inflict on people and the environment.

The report, "The Tyranny of Free Trade", reveals how privatization and intellectual property laws are undermining indigenous and community rights in Central America, how agricultural liberalization policies hurt small farmers in Uruguay, how free market policies have increased poverty in Colombia, as well as examples of resistance to these free market policies. The report also covers other parts of the world.

The release of the publication coincided with the current WTO Ministerial meeting in Hong Kong.

"If the world is upside down the way it is now, wouldn't we have to turn it over to get it to stand up straight?" -Eduardo Galeano
