Haiti’s election was marred with scuffles, stampedes, murders and confusion in what the U.S. ambassador has called a "triumph for the Haitian people."

Many polling places were disorganized and unable to open on time.

"Some polling workers didn't show up for work, so we're going to grab people from the crowd, give them some quick training and get them in there," said U.N. spokesman David Wimhurst.
