We’ve grown considerably since the creation of Upside Down World in August of 2003. Our website currently gets over 26,000 hits a day from all over the world, and our network of writers grows each month. Frequent readers have probably noticed that we recently upgraded our software. Now we want to be able to expand our coverage to regular radio reports, photo essays and video footage to make Upside Down World an increasingly multimedia resource. As we have grown, we have continued to provide you with news and analysis of popular social movements and political change in Latin America. Your donation will contribute to the expansion of the website and the continuation of our coverage.

This year we’ve published unique and in depth reporting and recently won a 2007 Project Censored Award. Upside Down World has broken stories on DR-CAFTA, women’s rights and U.S. military operations in Paraguay, mercenary recruitment in Latin America, movements against water privatization in El Salvador and the impact of the Biofuel craze in Latin America.
Because we feel that knowledge is power, we offer free syndication to like-minded publications so that these stories can travel. All of our material is accessible for free, and we are 100% reader funded: no grants, advertising or corporate sponsors—we count on you! We are currently one of the best English language websites covering politics and activism in Latin America. In order to keep growing, and not fall by the wayside like other excellent publications such as LiP, The Resource Center of the Americas, The New Standard News, Clamor Magazine, and other outlets that closed doors in the past year, we need the people who value Upside Down World to demonstrate their support.
Upside Down World consists of four volunteer collective members and dozens of volunteer and underpaid independent journalists, translators, activists and media makers across the hemisphere.
