When Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) members launched a project to document their plight through photos of their hands at the end of a day picking tomatoes, they weren’t sure at the time how they would use the pictures they produced.
Now you can see how those pictures were put to use in a powerful new video, posted on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =UlcIAfkXklk
The photos capture an aspect of labor in the tomato fields of Florida that only workers know — the thick, dark green mix of leaf residue, dirt, and chemicals that covers your hands and gets into every crack of skin by the end of the day, an indelible reminder of the day’s toil.
Don’t miss this incredible video, and join us this April 13th and 14th outside McDonald’s in Chicago to demand a fast-food industry that doesn’t depend on the endless exploitation of farmworkers – thanks, Coalition of Immokalee Workers
