Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for three Israelis accused of training right-wing death squads in Colombia.
Yair Klein, Melnik Ferry and Tzedaka Abraham are accused of giving military training to mercenaries working for wealthy landowners and drug cartels.
Klein, a former Israeli Army officer, told the AP that Colombia’s Ministry of Defense was involved when he was initially hired to organize security for the banana industry. He also admitted to instructing right-wing death squads on how to eliminate the leftist rebel movement.
Some of the trainees went on to form the right-wing paramilitary group Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC).
