Dear Readers,

It has been a great fall for independent reporting on Latin America here at Upside Down World. Over the recent months we have provided exclusive reports and analysis on the coup in Honduras, political developments in Bolivia, conflicts between social movements and the Correa government in Ecuador and more. In order to keep publishing on these and other important stories, we need your help!

Six years after we started publishing, we remain 100% reader-funded, and Upside Down World won't be able to continue without your financial support. We also continue to operate horizontally as an editorial collective, making decisions together and sharing the workload and responsibilities equally. If you consider Upside Down World an important source for information on Latin American politics and social movements, please make a donation today!

Upside Down World received three Project Censored Awards for 2008-2009. Each year Project Censored selects the top 25 most important news stories censored by corporate media. Awards went to the following stories: The World Bank and Climate Change: Sustainability or Exploitation? by Mary Tharin, and Bush Administration Accused of Withholding "Lifesaving" Aid to Haiti and Ecuador's Constitution Gives Rights to Nature both by Upside Down World editor Cyril Mychalejko.

Only with your help will we be able to continue publishing this type of reporting, while also funding investigations carried out by our editors and writers based around the hemisphere.  Upside Down World editor Cyril Mychalejko is currently in Ecuador where he will be writing about anti-mining resistance and other struggles between social movements and the government. To support his work, click here to donate today!

Here is what some of our contributors, whose ongoing reporting depends on your generosity, are saying about Upside Down World:

"Running a website with original reporting from Latin America isn't an easy task, but one that requires dedication and committed volunteers, editors and journalists. The folks at Upside Down World have proven their commitment. Today, it's up to us to match that with a donation that will keep this vital news source alive." -Dawn Paley (Dawn will be reporting from Honduras in December)

"Upside Down World is the place to go to get the best, most informed, up-to-date coverage of anti-systemic social movements across the Americas. As the most important English language site dealing with struggles in Latin America on the web, it is crucial for us all to support it." - Ramor Ryan

"Mediums such as Upside Down World empower solidarity, broaden awareness, and clarify the blurred realities of that which surrounds us
." - James J. Brittain

"Upside Down World is a great place to read on-the-ground reports about Latin American social movements reported directly by independent journalists."  - Daniel Denvir

"Upside Down World is an essential english-language news outlet for understanding social and political movements in Latin America today." - Jennifer Moore

-

"Upside Down World provides one of the few spaces for alternative and investigative reporting related to Latin America, a region where important social, cultural, economic, and political changes are taking place." - Vanessa Bohm, La Raza Chronicles, KPFA
